about

This is a heavy song about watching a friend suffer through mental illness, and feeling helpless to do anything when they won't accept help. Simultaneously relating to their pain, having suffered similarly myself. Knowing that coming out the other side, there are many gifts, realizations, and profound learnings that emerged from the ashes.

lyrics

I've nearly been there
But you got further
I've never hit rock bottom
But it's been worse, much worse
It can be so unforgiving
Yet freeing at the same time
When we get knocked down
It's how we learn to climb

Hey you, I see you under there
Just wanted to reach my hand out
And let you know I care
I can help you move some rubble out of the way
Maybe then you'll have room
To seize this day

Burn, I see you burn, I see you burn
And then you're reborn
Burn, I see you burn, I see you burn
And then you're reborn

I see your hands are torn and tired
I can see the places where your body has caught fire
I can't imagine what it's like to be inside you
But I can promise that I'll always be beside you

Hey you, I see you under there
I wanted to let you know that people up here care
Here we are, waiting with outstretched arms
I promise you that we mean you no harm

Burn, I see you burn, I see you burn
And then you're reborn
Burn, I see you burn, I see you burn
And then you're reborn
